Economic Empowerment Programs 1. Poultry and rabbit rearing Laikipia communities are faced with the challenge of initiating and sustaining income generating activities. Lack of capital, poor access to markets and lack of marketing skills are some barriers that stand on their way. LCEC is working with a group of grandmothers in Sipili in rabbit and chicken rearing. The old ladies use the proceeds generated from these projects to support orphans and other vulnerable children in the area. 2. Bead-work LCEC supports a group of grandmothers in making beaded ornaments and other artworks. They make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, key holders, baskets, table-mats etc. A great challenge has been finding a market for their products. The local market provides low prices as many people are engaged in this business. Home | About Us | Programs | Contact Us | Site Map ©2012 Laikipia Community Empowerment Center |
